Vampire Look (my first tutorial!)
This isn’t really super original, but a starting point for other tutorials I have lined up for this blog. It is a dramatic, somewhat theatrical look, but whether or not it’s “wearable” is up to you. :)
(And yes I know my eyebrows are crap, I don’t usually draw them in as solid lines…)
- Foundation — If you have a light skin tone, you can pale out your face for this look. If you have a darker skin tone, I would suggest enhancing what you have. The goal is a smooth complexion. I used my regular foundation mixed with Manic Panic’s Dream Tone liquid foundation in “Virgin” to really pale out my skin, and set with a translucent powder.
- Contouring & Highlighting — I contoured my face using a matte dark brown eyeshadow and blended it out for a subtle, yet still dramatic shadow. You want to make your face look gaunt, especially if you have a round bone structure. I highlighted with a pale mint green shadow to combat the natural redness in my face.
- Eyeshadow — I used an eye and lip primer by Lise Watier (by far my favourite) and Benefit’s cream eyeshadow in Skinny Jeans, which is a taupey-mushroom-with-gold-shimmer-kind-of-thing as a base. Next, I used the same dark brown I used for contouring and blended that into the crease, and out towards the brow bone. Lightly using a matte black, I blended that into the outer corner of my eye. I also brought the brown and black down on my lower lashline. For highlighting, I used the same pale mint green on my brow bone and inner corner.
- Eyeliner & Lashes — Using a black liquid liner, I made an elongated wingtip, and generously applied mascara. I then used Demi Lashes by Quo (a brand only sold in Canada, unfortunately) on the out corners of my eyes.
- Lips — I very, very lightly stained my lips with Benetint to give my lips a slight flush. Then using a thick red lipgloss, I sort of patted it onto the inside of my lips to give it an uneven stain, imitating that “just fed” vampire look. Try to make it run down the natural lines of your lips. Feel free to go as red as you want.
- Finally, draw in or fill in your eyebrows better than I did.
